Carl Dennis is an American poet born in St. Louis, Missouri. He graduated with a Ph.D. from the University of California-Berkeley. He has taught in several different writing programs and has published a number of books of poetry. These include Callings, Another Reason, and Practical Gods. He won the Pulitzer Prize for the latter.
