Coates Kinney was an American lawyer, journalist, politician, and poet, known for his lyrical work “Rain On The Roof.” Born in 1826 in New York, he studied law and journalism, served in the U.S. Army, and was a notable political figure in Ohio. He authored several poetry collections, including “Keeuka” and “Lyrics of the Ideal and the Real.”
