Diane Di Prima was a feminist beat poet from Brooklyn, New York. She worked alongside fellow poets like Audre Lorde and Allen Ginsburg. She used many different poetic techniques including stream of consciousness. Throughout her career, she published more than 40 books. Her poetry collections include This Kind of Bird Flies Backward and Pieces of a Song: Selected Poems.
