Laurie Sheck is a contemporary American author who was born in the Bronx. She has published several poetry collections, including Captivity and Amaranth. Her The Willow Grove was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize. She also wrote a unique novel, A Monster’s Notes, published in 2009, that’s comprised of letters, deletions, and fragments of prose.
