15th Century

Poetry from the 15th Century

The 15th century saw the flowering of Renaissance poetry. Poets like Franรงois Villon in France were pushing the boundaries of traditional verse.

In England, the transition from Middle to Early Modern English was exemplified in works like Thomas Malory’s ‘Le Morte d’Arthur.’ Italian Renaissance was at its peak, with polymaths like Leonardo da Vinci contributing to its literary corpus.

Poetry was used not only as a means of expression but also as a vehicle for critical thought about humanism, individualism, and secularism.
